Problems

I have a buddy who wants to purchase a Vr-4, and was curious to what kind of problems, or flaws that car has. if anyone has a input on this, please post.

Carfax for specifics for the car in question. Drive the car and see how the shifting goes. If its grinding - expect big bucks to repair. Aside from that, look for the typical things when looking at any car. Leaks, condition of the engine bay, tire wear, inside condition etc.

From what i hear the transmission is a problem on the vr4. But that is only hear say, do like yogs said. I saw a common repair problem on a webpage was the cv joint and it was around 1200 can anyone back that up from experience? Just curous how relaiable the price quotes were

oh yeah check for oil/water in air filter box that is a sign of major problems. Or that is what my dad told me and he has been a mechanic for about 30 years
