Good Morning. I have recently picked up a 1999 Ford Escort 4-door, all electric (locks, windows) and I have a question. For some reason it seems to me that the transmission feels a little loose. Sometimes it seems like it is trying to go back a gear or up a gear and it feels like a little bump. I don't know if I am causing it by leaning on the gas and them off. Does this sound familar to anyone? It is me? I have absolutely NO complaints about the vehicle, it is smooth, clean very good on gas.

You probably have a broken/weak engine or transmission mount. It is normal for the engine to move back and forth but not with a bang. Get someone to look at the engine mounts while shifting into gear and giving gas. Make sure the parking brakes are on.
