I have a '99 Silverado with factory aluminum wheels. Can anyone tell me the width of those wheels? Also, I've seen where 285s will work on factory wheels, will 305s work ok as well?
Thanks,
Dan

I think the only problem you would have with 305s would be the clearance when you turn the wheels. They probably will rub when you cut the wheels so you would have go with some kind of spacers or something. Height wise, there is only about an inch difference in 305s and 285s (depends on the brand of the tire) but the width is a little more then an inch.

At the tire shop whre I used to work, 305's will work on a factory rim, you just need to crank the torsion bars at least 4 rounds. Even then they may still hit on the front air dam at full turn. If you trim this a little with a razor knife, it should solve your problem. Now if your considering using 10" wheels, they will hit under the fender, and on the air dam as well. This requires some cutting, bending wiht a hammer under the fender..etc....THis is with only 285's. I have no idea what 305's would do on a 10" wheel.
