It's super easy to make your own rear seat delete, with some 1/4 plywood and carpet.

Yeah thats what I'll probably end up doing too, although I'd like something a little thicker than fiberboard, preferably like a plastic or something. Less tacky and wont crack as easy. I aint paying no $160 for a $5 product.

but if you make one yourself it might not fit as well as if you bought one.

I would think it would fit better, since you are actually making to fit YOUR exact specifications. Custom work always works better for me then pre-fabed units.

well i know why people do it.. but look at it this way:

as far as proformance you have a 2.3 4 banger, so that's obvisoly not you drive for this car.
the rear seats with all fixings weigh what? 12-15pounds at the MAX... and with all the carpet and fab/metal that you have to put in weighs about 5-7 pounds.. so you shaving off 7 or 8 pounds, plus you loose seating for people because trust me, there WILL be a time that you wish you could carry more people.

so what you are doing is not really changing anything as far going fast goes (plus you have a 2.3), it kinda looks dumb(if not done right), and you can only carry one passenger.

not trying to talk you out of it, but thats just another way to look at it.

carrying only one passenger is the key, im in HS and i just started driving so the last thing i need is more people to distract me from driving

and im pretty damn sure the rear seats weight more than 15lbs.

Damn dude, if he just wants to do it let him be. It MAY be just a 2.3 but you dont know if he has a 302 or even better a modular engine waiting in his garage for a swap. In my car, a rear seat delete saves around 50lbs. I hate having people behind me. I dont like carrying extra passengers and even if I did... the rear seats of a Mustang is like a death chamber. You dont want to be back there. Also it makes everything look cleaner.

SIKCRX, did you check out the link I gave you? I believe for the Fox bodies its $70 shipped. Give them a call and Im sure theyll hook you up with one.

I took the rear seats out of my 82' GT and they weighed like 50 lbs. Although that still would only be a .05 on your quarter mile.ewww..nah..dont do it. And by the way its performance, not proformance. 2.3L's dont make PROformance, lol. :iceslolan

I'm sick of the distractions too, which is why I'm most likely removing my rear seat as well.
