Keyless Entry

Is there any way I can tell if my 1999 Grand Caravan has keyless entry. It was just bought from a dealership and is loaded. I would say that it does but I was only given one key.

A D/C dealership can run the VIN number (the numbers seen through the windshield) for you, then you will know all the equipement that came with your van.

One way to tell for sure is to pop the upper dash pad/cover up and look for the RKE module just behind the safety indicator cluster on the left hand side. The module is a small black box maybe 2 x 3 inches or so with a blue electrical connector.
If it's not there you can easily add it to the van by purchasing the module and a couple of key fobs.
Just plug the module in and program the key fobs (at the dealer with a scan tool). Keep in mind though, this will not be an alarm, just Remote Keyless Entry.
I did this to my 99 GC. I happen to work at a Dodge Dealer so it was a minimal cost to me.

I own a 2000 Caravan and have the same question. Is the RKE located in the same place for this year? Also, do I need to remove the entire dash just to look under the upper dash pad. You say to pop it up, but in my car it seems that I will break it to pop it up without remove the entire lower section of the van.

If you pop the cover of the drivers side pillar you will be able to lift the dash cover enough to see if the RKE module is there. When I installed my RKE a few weeks ago the keyfobs were preprogrammed. All I did was plug it in and it worked.

Thanks walbern1. I poppede off the pillar cover, but the dash still seems like it will break to lift it up at all. I guess I will start taking it apart this weekend when I have some time. Thanks for the help.

Keep in mind that if the latches on each door are not equipped for keyless entry the RKE module will not make a difference. There are 2 different types of latches available for these vans.

I took almost every screw out of the dash this weekend. Everyscrew, tab, etc I could find near the top dash piece for sure. The thing still won't budge at all. I think it uses clips to hold it in, but the dash starts to look like it will tear before it pops up. I can't figure it out at all. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have a 93 Voyager. It has electric door locks. How do I determine what latch type is in this van? I'd like to add keyless entry if only a module is needed. (I have a 93 fob that is not to this van).

Should be the same as the 2003, Upper left dash. Remove the side pillar cover and then lift up the dash pad. It's a black box about 3" x 4" with a blue (i think) connector.
