Ok here is the deal i have a 2nd gen 95 tsi awd and here is my point im trying to make. MRZ remember when i had the vibration and i had to get a new cv shaft front well they ordered the shaft 4 times and wrong all 4 times, come to find out they had to order it for a 94 1st gen talon and it was perfect. My build date on the door is november 1994 now what im thinking they had left over transmissions from the 1st gen and threw them in cars like mine. Now the other question i have i wnder if my motor is 1st gen or 2nd gen? How would i find out?

Thanx Eric

Interesting. My manual stops at 94. Apparently enough happened at that point to warrant a new one. I don't know what change happend with the transmission that would cause the CV to be different, nor do I really know what distinguishes 1st generation Talons from 2nd unless 1995 was some kind of turning point.

Best I can advise is to check the plate on your fire wall. It gives the engine ID, mfg. date, etc.

i know what is different with the shafts, the 1st gen shafts are female on the inside with the splines comming out of the transmission, and the 2nd gen are male on the inside shaft with the transmission being the female end.

Thanx mark going to try to find the engine ID, why i want to know this info is because im gonna start messing with performance parts this spring.

That is messed up, The 95 was the turning point but I didn’t think they would do that. It could be that your drive train was replaced, Oh and there is a engine block ID, its below the exhaust manifold and towards the drivers side where the dip stick comes out.
