My '92 Tercel has been hesitating to turn over, lately. If I try to start the car without my seatbelt on, it often acts as if the battery is dead. Repeated attempts will eventually result in a strong, normal start. I checked for dirty contacts, broken wires, etc. The battery is strong. I'm wondering if the ignition might be wearing out, or if there is a safety feature that is kicking in unnecessarily. Is there a seatbelt-related switch in a '92 Tercel? What should I check or re-check? Thanks, Parmenides3

Is it an automatic transmission? My manual does the close to the same thing if the clutch is not depressed all of the way. My 92 does not have anything that prevents the car from starting if the seatbelts are not hooked up.

I checked and there is no cut-out switch on the '92 Tercel. Perhaps I'm just not pressing the clutch down hard enough every the time. :loser: (It's manual.) But it seems to be a change: I never had this issue before, and it has suddenly appeared over the last few months. Of course, my life has been filled with many good things in the last few months. Perhaps a thoroughly content person does not push their clutch down as hard... :smokin: Anyway, if anyone turns up any data on the subject, or has any suggestions, I'm all ears. And thanks to Gator2764 for the input. It really could be an ocassional failure to press the clutch hard. Parmenides3

If it is from not pressing the clutch all the way and you happen to find out if you can adjust it somehow let us know. I have to press mine all the way to the floor.

When someone finds out what causes it let me know my 94 does the same thing. It makes a beeping sound if I don't buckle up and is very hesitant to start. How ever I ve also relocated the battery to the trunk, but its an Optima and I used 1 guage wires I wonder if it could be my ground. Any advice would be appreciated
