im tryin to lose some weight on my 95civ hb. what are the 3 heaviest things i can remove? and i hope its not the backseats, spare tire, air conditioner. i took out my backseats and weighed them, there just over 3 lbs. the spare tire was heavier than that! it was 6lbs. im still debating on weather or not to take out the air conditioner cause id reather have air conditioner in the summer than losing 10-15lbs at most. my car weighs 2280 stock and the gsr engine probably weighs 125-200lbs more than my stock engine. how much weight would i have to lose just to shave off 1 1/10 of a sec. in 1/4?

With around 70-100 lbs you can shave .1 second of the quarter mile.

Other Ideas. Make it a convertible. Eat SUBWAY.

A/C with condenser is like 40lbs
Carbon fiber trunk - lose about 20-30lbs
Carbon fiber hood - lose about 20-30lbs
lightweight wheels - stock = 16-18lbs you can get 9lb 15" wheels
Lightweight front seats - lose about 20-30lbs.
Titanium exhaust - about 20-50lbs lighter than stock

If it's your daily driver just leave it be.. It's not worth losing a/c in hot summers just to be .1 seconds faster.

The most you can do an still be comfortable is take out your spare tire and extra stero equipment, thats what I do when I run in mums corolla.
(I just beat a mirage i/e)

Scrape the sound deadeners off the floor. All of it together weighs about 20 pounds, no BS. It'll take a while, and you have to chissel like a cave-man. If you have a sunroof, you can tkae that out too, they weigh like 60 LBS.

Yeah take out all of the stuff in the trunk; carpet; sound dedning; spare tire crap; all rear carpet in trunk. passenger seat, rear seat, door panels, auto locks and power windows, if youre really into it take out the class windows and get plexi glass cut, all sound system, get a light drivers seat, all seatbelts(excluding drivers side)

FOR TRACK USE ONLY:
You can take out the front and rear bumper support. DO NOT DRIVE ON THE STEET WITH IT OFF!!!! But for track its like 60lbs together.

and you can buy lightweight alluminum gas tanks and keeep the gas not full.

thats about all i can think of!!

Dude, do you go to the track, if so do you race for money? If the answer is no to either of these, leave your car the way it is. as stated before about 100lbs = about 1/10 a second off your time, there is no point in making your ar uncomfortable for no reason.

BTW, A/C and power streeing are not only heavy but they are a parasitic power loss because they run off the engines rotating assembly.

my car doesnt come with power steering or criuze control and i took the ac belt off for the track. but im not sure what the sound deff. is cause i took out that plastic thing that goes over your spare tire and the tire and then its just metal under that. however im interested in the plexi glass for the back and rear windows, where can i get that and how much weight do i save there?

You save a lot of weight by using Lexan windows, too bad they are illegal for street use. And the sound deadening material isn't in the back under the spare, it is under the carpet in the front and back on the floorboards and firewall.

I never said sound dedning material was in the spare tire well.
But you are right dont make urself miserable if you arent gonna run it at a track.
And if you took of the ac belt, why dont you just take out the ac compressor, its like 25lbs or something.
