Which brand is best?

Do I need all those fancy extra features, or just something to turn off the car after a few minutes?

that's the thing, how long should i wait? 10 secs? 1 min? i hate it sometimes cuz i'll be in a hurry and i just don't wanna shut off my car as soon as i park...

The whole reason for a turbo timer is because of oil coking. But I dont think coking has EVER been reported. Plus, for daily driving, i really dont think its necessary. After driving hard, sit in your car for a few minutes. (wuts the big deal)?

You go on a long highway drive, sustaned speed of 60mph (99.8kmh) will get a turbo hot. A turbo timer is a good thing. It will extend the life of your turbo, and this a good thing, i would deffinetly spend the extra 40$ and cost of gas to let my car cool off.

I thought the sole purpose of a timer was to get the hot oil out of the turbo and lines.... not to cool off the turbo

where can i get a turbo timer for my Mazdaspeed protege

The turbo timer keeps the engine running. When the engine is running it will still pass oil through the turbo. This accts like a cooling system. Drawing heat out and preventing oil from overheating. A good thing in my opinion. Dont see any reason y not to spend $40. But yes it is there to remove oil from the turbo(in a way)

I think any turbo timer will work on your mazda speed. Just do a search on google for timers. You can save a lot of money if you shop around.

You can pick up a basic turbo timer at almost any performance shop. You can even get alarm systems with the feature built in to them. Fairly straight forward in hook up. They are pretty genaric.
