Hello All:
I have a 1997 3.0L (12 valve) Taurus Wagon. In every 1 of approx. 10 starts, I have nothing but cranking (otherwise starts fine). The only way I can get the vehicle to start when this is happening is to floor the gas pedal while cranking, engine fires right up.
Any thoughts as to what the problem might be? This is a 100,000 k mile car in otherwise very good condition that has just been tuned up.
Thanks for any ideas

It sounds to me that the IAC (Idle Air Control) or sometimes called the Idle Bypass valve/throttle air bypass is probably sticking, you can sometimes clean them but I would recommend changing it for approx. $50
