search buddy, you will find all your answers. i dont really know what size turbo is propper, but there was a recent thread on this. and turbos are perfectly fine for daily driven cars, as long as they are sized and tuned properly.

yes searching helps alot.as far as which turbo to use, it's all about preferance, but the ideal turbo for me is the t3/t04e hybrid turbo.

A 60-1 might be a little big for a 1.8, but a T3 should work fine untill you mod it all to hell. Or a 16G-18G should also work well. You should look for whole kits though, not just a turbo. You can't just bolt it on to your car. Please don't be a dumb ricer, I'm sorry if I offend, but I'm tired of that.

yea 60-1 is wayyyy to big. I have had a 60-1 on my car it's a 3.8 and I have a 3200 stall. It kinda had a little turbo lag. I could not even imagine what it would be like on a 1.8

go te04h. that is whay i have pushing 8psi. makes max boost at 3000 (no lag at all) perfect for daily driving. Its a small turbo. My thing is why get a t3 that is capable of 20+ psi when you will never run that on a daily driver. Can you say over kill

I have a T3 .42 trim and there is hardly any lag at all, hit the gas in any gear and the boost is instantly there, this is on my daily driver as well. oh yea mine came off a saab 9000 16v :)

on my b18b i ran srp 9.5 comp pistons, arp headstuds, cometic head gasket and a drag turo kit with a T04-E 54 trim, rc 310 cc injectors, rage motorsports fmu 7.5-1 rise, SAFC, everything else stock, dynoed from 294-310 atw consistantly. the turbo would start to make boost just over 2500 and i had full boost just past 4000, of coarse anytime i need full boost i would just pop the clutch and there the tires go... !! haha

point is the compression of your engine, the target hp, and how you will be using the car are the 3 main factors of turbo sizing.

at our shop we use this rule of thumb:
for a street car:
-non vtec preffered but not nessecary "smoother power delivery, easier to tune.
-compression no lower than 9-1 prefferably between 9.5 & 10.5
make boost quicker and easier, will not have to be in boost to make enough power to drive and pull out, also if you to pop an ic pipe off you will still have more than enough power to drive.

for a race car:
-low compression and lots of boost with a big f'n turbo. haha

Like TEAM KLR said, it's all about what you want it to be for. If you want a daily driver with 250whp, then go with turbo a, if you want a weekend racer with 400whp, go with turbo b. The best thing to do is go to a local shop that is familiar with turbo cars and preferably imports and talk it over with them. They should be able to help you out better than people on a forum. Doesn't mean you have to buy it from them, but talking to someone is a lot easier to posting questions on a forum.

why go with the t3 or the t04e when u can get both with the t3/t04e hybrid. it has the t3 turbine for quick spool and the t04e compressor for huge power gains. to me, u just can't beat that.
