Taking the head off a dohc zc

This sucks. Im just dissasembling one of my ZC's to see whats wrong with it (there were pretty big chunks of metal in my oil pan after the oil pump went out) and this isnt as easy as the sohc's. To take the head bolts out you need to take out the camshafts. And then to take the head off you need to unbolt the mount so the plastic doesnt hold it all together still. Just a pain in the ass thats all. Anways, to put the camshafts back in, how do i know their in the right position? Thanks

if you look at the cam gears attached to the cams. there is a notch/line on the side of the cam gear. all you have to do is make sure that the notches on both the cams/gears are facing straight UP when you put the timing belt back on you'll be good..... oh yeah make sure that your #1 piston is at TDC (top dead center)before you put the timing belt on also.

not sure on ZC's, but on b20's, b16's and b18's etc there is a whole in the first cam retainer before the cam gear, watch that whole as you turn the gear towards the up^ mark you should see a hole through the camshaft line up with the hole in the retainer. If you have that hole all you have to do is drop a small allen wrench down through the retainer and the shaft, viola! that bitch aint goin nowhere till you take it out.
