I purchased a 95 Probe GT at a salvage yard. it was in like new condition. listed as flood damage. IT was NOT flooded. It had a blown motor. 1 rod broke and cracked the bottom half of block. the motor had only 1200 miles on it when I purchased it in 96. I found another motor and just changed out the whole thing keeping this one for parts. the car has been sold and although the motor has been stored in a workshop it has been a number of years and I have no idea about condensation etc that may have built up in it but heads distributer and most of motor should be in good condition. I need to get rid of this for space and since I don't have any need for it.
I drive up I-95 most every week from Richmond VA to northern NJ and can meet you somewhere along that route if you want it. I don't have pictures at moment and just thought about offering it so I don't have the #'s off block but will get both for anyone interested. All the pumps, power steering, AC etc were used on the new motor so it doesn't include those.

I'd like to get a few hundred out of it if possible. (the cost for me to load it on a trailer and pull a trailer up 95 and NJ turnpike, since that is where I am going every week is almost 30.00 in tolls above what I normally spend not to mention the extra gas I'll burn) I was hoping to get 250-300. Heads intake and distributor should all be fine but again you are buying as is. as should top half of block and 5 rods etc. again only damage that I know of is one rod broke cracking bottom half of block. But again it has been sitting for 7 years under cover.

WOW. Nevermind man, that's crazy. When I blew the engine out of my probe I paid $475 (not including install) for my engine in perfect shape. And the "only damage you know of is the rod cracking the block" is pretty major... :screwy: . So you want 300 for a stripped engine(pumps, p/s, a/c) with a thrown rod, and cracked block...HA! Go talk to some other sucker. :disappoin

That's cool, I know what a set of heads would cost for it (more then 300). and I figure you get the rest for free. and remember it only had 1200 miles on it. Not trying to rip anyone off. but figure with extra fuel and tolls I also have 50.00 just to deliver it. If I get to the point where I just want it out of here I'll let you know and you can have it. But I figure parting it out I could make 700-800 on it easy. Just trying to make someone a deal on the whole thing. Is it really that out of line? serious question last I heard the heads were over 1,000 new. 300 for heads delivered with only 1200 miles I thought was a good deal.

1200 Miles is very enticing but why would it have a blown rod with such very little miles?? hmm. Makes anyone wonder, not calling you a liar but that doesnt seem right. It's like the guy bought it and drove it around at 7 grand the whole time till it blew. And the fuel and tolls?? I thought you said you come up here every week. It's not out of your route in anyway. 50 dollars?? I dunno man I drove to Parris Island the other month and i don't remember any rip off tolls like that. I went from Baltimore to N. Carolina with easly 50 bucks in tolls and gas. But it's cool I though I was doing you a favor of getting it off your hands, you seemed like it was an inconvenienve having it around. Not trying to rip you off either, just I don't get my Lisence back for a couple months, and figured it would be a GREAT project to keep me busy with. Then build it up and have a nice monster engine. But the only thing scares me is the cracked block... I have no clue how much that will cost or even how to fix it. I guess I'd have to get a whole new one. It's unfortunate, but, I guess your mind is set, anyway welcome to the forum.
And if you change your mind, please deff. get back to me!

tolls with a trailer Double plus I am going to NJ so I have to continue pulling the trailer up the NJ turnpike and back (which I wouldn't be pulling a trailer if I didn't have the motor) I understand about you worrying about the rod and only 1200 miles, But I can tell you I bought it at a salvage yard (see first post) it was listed as flood damage. But was not flooded. what happened was someone bought it, blew the motor and somehow got the insurance company to buy them a new car. when we found out what was wrong we called the salvage pool and told them about it so that they could contact insuarance CO. as this was obviously insurance fraud. as an end result the insurance company threatened the salvage pool that they wouldn't use them anymore if they continued to allow my fathers bodyshop to purchase there. For all I know it could have been a defective Rod from the factory. and I know you have no reason to believe me, and I understand that and wouldn't believe me if I was in your shoes either. : ) But I am very satisified that the car had only 1200 miles on it when I received it. Good luck, and again if it gets to where I just want it out, you have first dibs on it for free.

Thanks. That's great to hear man. But, I don't understand why they would be pissed off at your dad's company...it's legal, no fraud. They got frauded, sent it to a junkyard and then your dad's shop bought it (I'm assuming it happened more than once.) I don't see anything wrong with it unless your dad was the mastermind telling everyone to fraud them so he could buy them cheap...LOL. Giving myself ideas. Well anyway if ya wanna give it up...I'm here. And I'm getting about 100 dollars in a couple days, so if you think about it and want an extra 100...I'm here. Thanks, and think hard. :sunglasse

Hey
I would like to know the numbers on the distributor and if you would be willing to part it out. I've got a 95 GT 2.5L with a bad coil. Let me know what you would take for it.
