My jeep has been stalling running down the road and will normally start right back up. Sometimes takes a while to restart. When it happens the tach just drops out and most times put in neutral and will start back up. Happened yesterday a short ride to the store from a cold start and was hard to restart and did not want to run and died three times on the way home and was hard to start each time and was cutting out. Bought a new fuel filter today have not installed yet checked fuel pressure around 35 pounds at idle and 42 at around 2500 rpms. Checked computer got a 32 then a 55 reading my manuel did not have 32 code and said 55 was showing end of code. Any help would be great I'm lost on what is wrong.

A 32 is you EGR Valve being either stuck open or closed. If the EGR valve is not functioning properly then it will cause you engine to surge or stall.

Hey thanks I was stumped on the 32 code. I installed a new fuel filter today. And looked at some of the past posts and noticed a lot of stall problems may be crankshaft sensor are pickup coil related so will replace those a long with the EGR valve. And maybe the ole hoopie will get me from point A to B with out that feeling of wondering where it will dye at.

Another question while under the hood I noticed a leak off the filter mount any ideal what it would take to stop it? It has a new oil sending unit I thought that was the problem but now I can tell where it is coming from.

The leak from the filter mount is a VERY common prob on old 4.0L engines. Its just an o-ring thats old and has rotted. A new o-ring set should only cost ~$10 and you can only get them from a MOPAR dealer, like your Jeep dealer for example or any other OE MOPAR Parts supplier. Its a very easy fix.

Hey thanks for the help I put on a new crankshaft senor this evening and was trying to install a new pickup coil. Was in a hurry and got the cap off and the rotor and the plate under it put could not figure out how to install it. Do you have to pull the disturbutar out are what? Looked back on some records and had a new O2 sensor installed last year to pass inspection my check engine light was on. No light this time was wondering if the computer was still carring the 32 code from then? Drove it to work tonight no hickup at all hoping the crankshaft sensor may have been the problem. The O ring set much too changing it?

The mount is just one bolt. Take off the mount and replace the big o-ring. When I bought the o-ring set I got 3 rings but I only needed one so if you cannot find out where the other two go when you fix it don't sweat it. Also, coat the ring in a thick grease to ensure it doesn't get dry and rott out ever again.
Your EGR might be an intermittent problem. If it doesn't flash it again and your drivabilty problem never comes up again then your ecu must have flashed an incorrect code for whatever reason.
The sensor in the distrubutor is the cam position sensor and you shouldn't need to pull the dizzy to get it out. The crank position sensor is on the bellhousing located behind the intake mainifold.

I may have missed soemthing...are you talking about the oil filter mount? or some other filter? Let me know...I have a oil drip on my 94 i've been trying to fix and it still seems to be there only very very small now. If i can ever get it fixed I can park in the driveway again! :-)

Oil filter mount.
If you feel the leak around your oil filter mount then the filter mount is the source.
Your front and or rear main seals could be leaking as well.

yup i was thinking it may be the rear seal as the leak drips right down the back of the oil pan and off the drain bolt...thanks!
