both turbo, GN has 2 extra cylinders, and more torque. Methinks the GN, but then again, you never know...

stock for stock the GNX is a high to mid 13 second car. a STi with a excellent driver is a 12.8-12.9 car. on average its a low 13 second car.

Straight line, close but the STi will edge it out slightly.

Road course, STi, by a pretty large margin.

But the Grand National is pretty impressive for it's age :)

i know the grand national runs about a 13.4 stock, it has about 276hp, and 360 for its torque, so i would say its close enough that the better driver would win this race, but assuming both drivers are about even, i think the sti might be a little bit quicker.

While the STI should come out front in just about all races, I'd rather have the GN.

Go there and listen for teh turb0s:evillol:

The Grand National is a turbo charged 3.8 litre series I V-6, made by Buick, most notably in 1987, though there were earlier models. As mentioned above, the GN has about 276hp, and 360 for its torque, but has no problem with modification to make it have a higher output. Stock that thing is fast as hell. I want one. Badly. Especially the one in the video.

Ok guys notice he said Grand National and not GNX..... There is a difference. ones worth about 8k-20k and one is worth 15k-60+k

Stock for stock the STI would have the GN.... But less than 1k in mods. The buick will eat that STI for lunch. The STi wont run with the buick dollar for dollar. and like Yogs said. Would't you really have the GN :p .

And for thoes of you who don't think a buick can handle...

bone stock an 87 GnX will run low 13's with someone who knows what they are doing. In the 1/4 mile i'd give it to the GnX but if this was on a road course the Sti would have the upper hand.

well stock for stock the sti would have the upper hand even slighty on the 1/4 mile

just watch out for those modded gnx;)

that is a pretty good question that i think i can help with. let me start by sayingi have an 87 gn and am planning on getting a wrx. in the 80s cars were absolutly disgusting when you talk speed. the gns were an exception for the most part. they were actually much faster than 13 stock. buick put all kinds of governers on them, mostly the computor chip.there really arent many gns tha kept these silly restrictors. most gns on the road today are 11 or 12 second cars. in a straight line on dry pavement almost any gn would win by a good amount. if there is ANY moisture on the ground the wrx would easily win. the only other factor is cargo. the gn's are almost uneffected by how much weight is in the car, the wrx is actually disgraefully slow with 5, 4, or even 3 people in it. the gn would actually lose to a 1980 toyota corolla in the snow, so the wrx would bury it there.my gn is gonna be my spring summer racer, and wrx for winter months. hope that helps
