i beleive the question was "what exhaust setup should i get?" NOT "who wants to be a dick?"

Try running a bigger pipe. I doubt your too worried about proper back pressure with your 2.3, no offense. Bigger pipe should make it deeper as well as louder. You might replace the resonator with a straight thrue pipe too. Good luck.

im thinkin of gettin pacesetter headers, take off the pre cat, and after cat, install a hiflow cat, and a flowmaster 40 muffler...and probably 2.25" piping...anyone think of anything wrong with this?

A friend of mine put a 40 series Flow on his '95 escort 1.9. He ran 2 1/4" pipe from the cat back, but he didnt put one of those annoying coffee can mufflers on there either. It sounded pretty good for such a small 4 cyl. Depending on where your 02 sensors are, you may not wanna gut your cats, the 02 sensor works off of heat built up from the converter.

Well, that would work, not sure about the power increase, but that would help in your achieving your goal. Just don't go crazy in over sizing the pipe diameter, you will lose all low end that that car is already lacking.

yea i know, but i figured, unless i want to dump a bunch of cash into the engine this car isnt going to be fast, so i might as well have it sound and look good. even though i know im gonna get shit from everyone at school. but i dont care what they think

my 2.3 has an exhaust leak just before the muffler, so it sounds quite a bit louder than normal. although it's not the slightest bit deep.
problem i have is, it keeps slowing down and dying at lower rpms when idling. if i keep the revs up with the gas, it'll keep running but it likes to die on me. i discovered that i had a weak spark condition, so i put on new wires. seems to still be a problem so i'm going to put on the coil from my '90 and see if that helps. also, it runs on all 4 just fine at higher rpms but misfires at lower speeds. i'm thinking not enough spark there to light that much fuel, or perhaps too rich a mixture. anyway, i'll change the coil tomorrow and see if that helps, and my PCV/breather parts should be at the dealer later this week =)
oh yeah.... does anybody have an air cleaner snorkel for an 86 n/a 2.3? seems the part has been discontinued and i will be needing a new one to make it run decently. thanks.
guess i've whored this thread to its max =)
