where is a good(cheapest) place online that i could get AEM cold air intake for 91 civic. cheapest place i could find was http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item.pl?sku=AEM21400R&vq_id=none.com
is it worth $45 more to get bypass valve?
and last will putting cold air intake make my exhaust sound at least a little different?
thanks

AEM is definitely one of the better intakes out there. Once I do a swap I plan on going with the AEM intake. As for the bypass valve... I know a few people that had used them, but eventually took them off because they were really brittle. More than one of my friends had them break from the motor torquing (if that's a word), in turn pulling on the intake & cracking the valve.
There was a time when AEM refunded the $$$ to customers who had bought them because of the "design flaw". And supposedly they've been redesigned to be more sturdy.

if i where to get CAI now on Stock motor. will it fit on B16a i plan on getting later on. i dont want to build up motor due to the fact that i will be swapping motors. just want to make sure it will fit on B16a as well with very small modifications.

depends... Do you have MPFI, or DPFI? If you have MPFI it'll work - due to them having similarly designed intake manifolds. If you have DPFI it probably won't fit right (on a B16) because the stock intake piping connects in a higher spot than on the MPFI manifold.

Sorry
MPFI = Multi Point Fuel Injection (4 fuel injectors)
DPFI = Dual Point Fuel Injection (2 fuel injectors)
What trim level is your Civic? DX, Si, EX, LX, CX, Std...?
The Si & EX have MPFI. The DX, LX, CX & Std have DPFI.
(OMG I've edited this post at least 10 times - lol)

save yourself about $200 and humiliation of paying way too much for a piece of pipe and buy a cold air intake off ebay. then if you wish, buy a K&N filter.
the bypass valve totally reverses any cold air effect gained by the intake.

Then yes, the AEM intake for the Civic EX will also work with a B16 swap.

no, not at all
I was just laughing because we went back & forth so much just trying to figure out what would work....
I'd definitely go with AEM

personally, I wouldn't get one. Unless it rains a LOT where you're at & even then, with a CAI you should be avoiding any/all puddles...
It's up to you though

My friend had a short ram on his integra and then bought the APC intimidator short ram (from auto zone) and connected that to it and ran it into his wheel well to make a cold air intake and whenever it rains he just goes out and takes it off (to avoid getting water it in) and it only takes about 2 or 3 minutes.

I can agree with that. A year or two ago a buddy of mine started carrying generic AEM intakes at his shop. They're identical to the AEM intakes in every way, and only cost about $80. Why pay $200 when you can get the exact same thing for less than half that?

so how would i go about getting a CAI for a DX?

you could put one on. There are company's that make 'em, but why waste the $$$ on a CAI for a DX if you're just swapping in a B16 soon?
