6-bolt 4G63 Turbo/NT swap question

I am looking into doing the 1G swap into my GST. Can i buy an NT motor and swap my turbo/ intake/ exhaust etc onto it and end up with the same motor? NT engines are way cheaper than the turbo ones.

No. The NT motor is a 420A

Not all of them.

the N/T 4G63 internals are different.

i know its got bigger rods and a 6-bolt crank, i guess i'm asking if i can just bolt up my stock 2G turbo setup to it and roll. or are there other mods that need to be done to make the swap work?

who says it as bigger rods?
a 1G turbo does, but the N/T also? u need to look into that
what about the pistons, the obviosly wont have the same 7.8:1 pistons and the 4G63T

ah yes, good point. i will have to check it out...if that is the case i will have to crank up the turbo or get a bigger one to keep the same # of horses in the corral. i guess i'm not worried so much about the inside of the engine, but more on how it will bolt in, and whether it will bolt up to my turbo/intake/exhaust.

FourG hit the nail on the head. You do NOT want a NT block, for the high compression ratio and weaker pistons. The turbo 90-92 6 bolt motors have the big rods. You can use the later 1g 7 bolt turbo motor, but it wont be an upgrade for power handling, and they do occassionaly CW, though less often than the 2g 7 bolts do. They will swap in the same. Read the tech article on www.magnusmotorsports.com. Everything I need to do these swaps is in there. But the bulk of it is modifying the 2g timing belt side motor mount to clear the 1g pump, and wiring in the 1g CAS to get crank/cam angle signals to the ECU (the 1g head and block do not have provisions for the 2g sensors). RRE has instructions and wiring diagrams, and I think magnus just links to those. The rest is getting together all of the parts you need. The list is on that site.

what about rebuilding the bottom end with a new 6-bolt crank/flywheel and some good aftermarket rods pistons? if the top end is good do i need a whole new engine?

If u really want to then try to build up the NT, but the turbo version, can handle 350hp all day long, and some can goes to 400 to 450, before rebuild with stronger part, building the NT is a waste of time, and money. U can pick up a cyclone with turbo about 1200 to 1300, with awd tranny 1800. is not a bad deal at all. i got other question, i got 90 6 bolt do anyone knows that 2g tranny can fit??, or have to be 1g. any info help please

you'd be better off getting another 1G for your 1G. 2G's have the bigger crankwalk problem.
