Vent Rings

I've been painting the interior trim in my '03 tib and have run into a small problem... I can't seem to get the two center vent rings out of the dashboard! I haven't pulled terribly hard on them as I'm afraid to break them. Is there a trick to it or do I just need to stop being such a pussy and yank the sons-a-bitches out?

... you have to tak eout teh center dash piece.. and then the radio.. and there are i believe 3 screws on facingteh front of teh car.... on teh left.. and 2 on teh right... thyere a lil tricky to get out....
