It would be cheaper to buy a quaife. I think as long as you haev the S80 you can change out the diff, final drive and I think the counter shaft and it will work, not real sure on that but I think I have heard that. But IMO I would just get a quaife or buy the whole ITR tranny. :2cents:

IMO i didnt like the type r tranny. i drove an itr and i was cruising at 80mph on the highway with the rpms around 4 grand. i think the gears are smaller on the type r than on other tegs...i think. but how much does a quaife cost, without install?

I have seen them as low as $700 and as high as $900.

Whats involved in the install? Like is it something i could do with my car on jackstands in the driveway?

man all tegs are gonna be realitvly high in RPMs at highway speed, my GSR is at about 3800 in 5th at 80mph, alot better than my old pos ls, 4 grand at 70 in 5th.

I would keep the LS transmission and install an aftermarket LSD. The LS gears are pretty tall - taller than the GSR and Type-R gear ratios I believe. All you need is the power to back it up and use the full gear length.
I think the B-series VTEC motor gear ratios are all shorter than non-VTEC. I might be wrong. My B16A gear ratios are pretty short though. 80mph on the highway usually puts me at about 5,000rpms in 5th gear.
