VAG-COM ???? info

anybody messin' with their compu. with one of these?? seams like you
can screw-up some things if your not carefull ?? anybogy re-programing
their cars :smokin:

The vag-com can't really do anything with the hardware of the car. It can just adjust some of the software settings. With vag-com, you can't "chip" your car or anything like that. You can only do things that are already built into the car. For example, with the auto transmission on new audis, you can select a couple of different options on HOW the car shifts. Like instead of waiting for you to get to a near stop to shift to first from say fourth, you can program it to downshift sooner and be ready for you if you are going to get on the gas again. The vag-com can mostly be used to diagnose the car and scan it for fault codes. The dealer charges about $80 just to diagnose a car.
