stereo programing

We just purchased a 2003 Silverado with a premium sound system. The problem is, it doesn't work. We were told that it needs to be reprogrammed. The dealer says to just bring it in and they can program it for us, but our work hours and their 's are the same. We were hoping to find someone who knows how to do this so that we can do it ourselves.
