Mustang Help

Hi,

I drive a 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe, the car has 47,900 miles on it. I recently have had problems with the car. When you get it up to 30-35 MPH the motor feels like it is shaking (kindof like a hesitation in the motor?). It feels like something is pushing back on it. When you get it past 60 it drives alright. I have got my tires balance, a 4 wheel alignment, fuel filter replace, and it still does it. I took to to a mechanic and he said something about it being the spark plugs. And he said it could also be transmission problems. But I took it to a Transmission Specialitst and he said it is for sure not the transmission, it is in the motor. The hesitation did not start until i got my tires balanced at Wal-mart. Could anyone give me a couple of pointers of what it could be? The car does not have a warrenty.

If a mechanic recommended spark plugs to you it might be worth it to just throw a set in. They are cheap and farely easy to install. I wouldnt doubt that could easily be the problem. While your in there check your wires(i dont think they're c-o-p are they?), and look for cracks or bad connections at the plugs.

When an entire ignition bank and coil went out on mine, the engine wouldn't rev past a certain point, and it ran very crappily. It was very rough and sounded different. A Catalyitic converter then blew up and made a terrible rattling sound. I doubt that is what your problem is, cause it's very distinctive.

One thing you can do when you go to check the quality of the spark plug wires is bend them around with your fingers though their whole length and see if your car's revs go down any. If it does then pull the wire and to double check put the wire on a ohmsmeter and bend it again. If the value goes to infinity then its bad, but the OEM wires should last along time at least 100K miles I would say. When the problem is happening are you cruising or getting on it good? The spark plug itself shouldnt have any buildup and should have a brownish tint to it.

Of course,you won't want to be doing this on a rainy day,or standing in a puddle
