...would you have went with a Honda? After having my Sentra for almost 3 months. I miss my Civic. Wasn't anything special, but I do miss that car. After college the plan was to get a Spec V so I can transfer any mods I do to this car over. And I think I will go through with that plan, but only use it as a daily and buy another Civic to build and work on.

No. No matter how fast a Civic is, everybody says "it's still just a Civic" and doesn't respect your ride. If I could go back, I'd buy a '90-'95 beater and pour the rest of my money into a Z28 or something with real power. My car's almost paid off now, so screw it I'd rather have a car with no monthly payments than anything :smokin:

haha yea I hear that alot on the net 'it's still just a civic' but around here civics don't have as much heat...the big thing around here is at the end of the day no matter how fast the neon srt is....it's a neon
One thing I'd go back and change is not trying to paint shit...I would just do it the ultimately right way and get it re-wrapped with vinyl or osme material...which I'll be lookin into tomorrow

YEa, but an older smaller honda. The only reason I ended up with this coupe is because I got it for a damn good deal and it was almost new (back in 99).
If it wasn't for that deal, I'd probably be rolling in a mkII Gti ('90 or '91 16v) right now... Or a '90-'91 240sx. I was also really into Old skool VW bugs back then since my uncle was into building dune buggies.
But I love my civic and will probably never get rid of it now that its paided off. :icon16:

If I could have spent my money elsewhere..it would have been on a 90-93 Integra LS with a B16 head swap.. (LS/VTEC byatch!)
Black and as sleeprisish/stock looking as possible...All my money would go into my engine and none to cosmetics :)

every once in a while i wish i had a v8 but i offten swap cars with my buddy (he has a 96 mustang GT) and the gas just goes so fast in that thing plus the amount of tires id be going through.... ill stick with my honda :)

Totaly love my honda but 30 mpg :disappoinwent out the window with the swap (18C- w/turbo on the way:jump3: it's 17 mpg now a heavy foot:screwy:, with FI) Would I do it again ???? Sure i know my next toy is going to be rotary:evillol: I Think? I Love my Honda and I would do it again for sure.:iceslolan "power of dreams"who'd have thought you could make a civic go this fast?I remember going to FWD drags back in the late 80's, when it was a only an exhibition sport and every one marvaled at the oddity, and wondered why? Because V-8's rule, and rear wheel drive is the way to go. I have had many cars, and trucks, and modified many of them. Not one have I enjoyed driving half as much! Here I am 17 years later with no answer to the question I asked back then but it's fun to drive it, and racing it is more fun, which is no explanation not that addicts need one.Excuse the post the the drugs are starting to take hold......

If i was limited to the same funds, i'd have tried finding an ITR. To start it would have cost a bit more, but i'd come out even in the end since i wouldn't be needing to do a swap.
got v-tec?

i will always have a honda with an ibtegra engine for the track but for a daily driver i would either get a wrx sti or neon srt-4

Hmm, would I still get a Honda...tough call. If I was limited to the same funds, I probably would. Honda's are a reliable car, and I bought my 92 civic outright back in the day. I love my car to death and will never ever part with it. I'd rather see her sittin pretty in the garge than with someone else behind the wheel. I think I would get it again under the same conditions, but if I was to get another car now, I'd park my Honda in the garage and by something else to driver around. I think you said it best GScivic7, you miss the car but arn't sure why...I'm the same way...I'd miss it too much now, so I'd park it if I was going to get another car to drive. If I was to start again today though, just like back then...I don't know what I would do honestly, all the rice and morans out there today that only modify to be cool might have turned me off enough I'd have looked elsewhere. I think what you said is a good idea, own the Nissan (or whatever you have) to drive, and buy a cheaper stock civic like a 5th gen to just screw around with. They are fun car's, there just something about them, I don't know what. Maybe it's just me and my car, lol...but there's something...as you said...I'd miss it now if it wasn't there. I don't have to drive it, I just have to know it's there just in case I feel like it.

Me, I have owned at least one (or more) Honda since my '84 Accord LX(in '86).
What I'd do over again:
Buy slightly used from somebody who got in over thier head (say w/in 2yrs old). Avoid payments like the plague, its slavery.
a manual tranny is the ONLY way to go in a compact car.
I'm a mechanical engineer (though not automotive) but from what I do know Hondas are exceptionally engineered cars and do precisely what they're designed to do, for at least 10 years with regular maintenance and incredibly few repairs. They are not designed to be sports cars, out of the gate, generally speaking.
Do your homework/research on everything, upgrade or repair.... I've spent many a (wasted) buck 'shotgunning' repairs (it must be this, replace it, oh, it must be this, replace it too, oh, it MUST be this...!) rather than taking a more intelligent diagnostic approach up front...
Upgrade when you can, cash. All designs are a compromise, mostly favoring low mfg costs so its a given that you CAN improve the Civic, with just whats spoken of on this site; 4 wheel discs, upgraded rims/tires, struts, some exhaust and intake work. With just those purely bolt-on tweaks you have something approaching cars costing twice as much and you haven't stressed the motor to the point of effecting its inherent reliability one bit.... the one fault to this ? Waiting too long to do it ! When you do its like, man I wish I'd done this sooner (my own experience, anyway)
I believe in cars once you reach a point improvements are incremental and the costs for achieving them become exponential. I think anybody approaching the limits of thier vehicles performance experiences this. Another way of putting it, diminishing returns...There are (debatable) SLIGHTLY better 'rides' out there, costing WAY more, carrying a more prestigous 'euro-name' and costing you out the butt in insurance, repairs, maintenance, theft, too. It all depends on how much you wanna pay for 'image' and a marginally better ride.... Me, I'd take a Honda and a jet ski over a BMW (and no ski) any day...
Same applies to repair/upgrade components. The very-best are in my opinion either incrementally better (for a lot more $) or beyond the capabilities of the car and/or driver (ergo, a waste). Beware the most heavily advertised 'stuff' (any product line) somebody's gotta pay that bill, and its you... I've actually found some inferior products with the 'big' advertising dollar names to be inferior to the 'little guy' who spends it all on the actual PRODUCT...Mid $ range stuff (or last years top of the line on 'clearance') has been my best bang for the buck.
Factory paint is probably the most durable finish (maybe not 'the' glossiest...) your car will ever have, repaint when absoloutely necessary and then expect to re-re paint again...
The civic is a better value than the accord, at least historically from a cost of ownership per mile standpoint. Its a little smaller, and a lot less $ but does nearly the same things... It seems to me each successive Civic model is about the size of the previous Accord model...

I don't think I'd have gone with a honda... I'm just really craving something with a little more displacement to work with now that I have had my civic for a while. Or even a car the was _intended_ to be turbo. I just feel like I'm trying to trick my grocery getter into going fast and its not really getting the hint.
