Fellas:
I would like to start a thread describing to our mates overseas what the V8s are, and what they're all about.
So anyone contribute info to the thread so the overseas guys can get an understanding.
Any questions, post em up! :sunglasse
The V8 Supercar Championship is a two make series based mainly in Australia, but now moving abroad to New Zealand and China (why China, I have no idea).
The two makes in this are the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon. Current body shapes are the VY and BA, respectivly.
Techical details for Holden VY Commodore. (http://www.v8supercar.com.au/technical/rules/2003update/downloads/VYHolden_2003.pdf)
Techical details for BA Falcon (http://www.v8supercar.com.au/technical/rules/2003update/downloads/BAFord_2003.pdf)
Currently the top tier teams are the Holden Racing Team (Holden), Stone Brothers Racing (Ford), K-Mart Racing Team (Holden). These are the three teams that get the most results, however other higher tier teams are Dick Johnson Racing (Ford), Gary Rodgers Motorsport (Holden), and a few others I can't be bothered listing because its 0400. :)
For the uninitiated, this is the VY Commodore:

While this is the BA Falcon:

Thats enough for now. Later today I will post the circuts, the basic rules and the points system.
Anybody want to write a (briefish) history up?

I've always felt that the easiest way to describe V8 supercars is to tell people "Think of Trans-Am with sedans and an Austrailian accent."

This thread is good, cause even though I watch V8 Supercars on Speed I still know little about them...
Thus, I am going to sticky this thread for all to see... forever.

POINTS SYSTEM
WARNING: You will need a Cray Supercomputer in order to work out who is where in the championship.
There is a complusory Drop-Your-Worst-Round system, which IMO is silly and just a waste of time. It means that even if you enter one race, say Bathurst as a privateer, and you score a point, you will lose that point. Stupid, huh?
POINTS (http://www.v8supercar.com.au/downloads/operationsman/2004opman/Division%20C%20FIA%20Approved%20Final.pdf)
Is where the points system is, I think (PDF often crashes my browser).
More to come.
