I'm lookin at buying a 99 Jeep TJ Sport V6 4.0L. I got a full mechanical inspection done this morning with the compression test but I myself am not really sure on if they are good or not. Unfortantly and apparently I could not talk to the mechanic who done them cause they were to busy. Fair enuf. Here they are....if anyone knows about this stuff could ya give me a reply tellin me if these numbers are excellent....good.....hopefully not horrible:
Cylinder 1 - 155 lbs
Cylinder 2 - 155 lbs
Cylinder 3 - 152 lbs
Cylinder 4 - 155 lbs
Cylinder 5 - 155 lbs
Cylinder 6 - 152 lbs
Thanx for anyhelp anyone can give. The only other thing I was conserned about in the mecahnical was a not about the rear brake adjusters being seized. Because of that they are unable to remove the drums??? Is this a serious issue as far as repair costs go. I'm going to have it fixed ASAP however I just wonderin if anyone knew an estimate on what this could cost.

The compression test doesn't show a whole lot of cylinder-to-cylinder variation, which is good. The measured figures are in about the range where I would normally expect them to be, although I don't know anything specific about your engine.
Take a normal rear brake job price (I've never paid someone to do it, so I don't know what they'd charge, guess= $200) and add about $100-$150 for additional labor to get the stuck drums off.

that motor is pert-near perfect. I dont have DCs specs in front of me, but typically 15% variation from high-hole to low-hole is acceptable (the variation is more important than overall number magnitude, some motors just dont suck well at 240rpm (cranking)
as for the rear brakes, the entire bag of hardware for the rears incl the adjusters is about $30-40 and 15-20 minutes of someones life to install it, Id ask that this be fixed as part of the deal, a 99 still is costing a pretty penny, in todays economy they can fix it and still make $$
as for removing the drums, and drum puller will get em off even if it breaks the keepers (part of that bag of hardware)
