hey all,
I was wondering are 4g63 pistons cast or forged? also, i remember reading an article about it but i cant remeber where, anyway, there's this kit that replaces the stock rubber vibration damper things under your shifter to make your shifts more precise. Because the rubber things let the plate shift and you can replace them with just washers or something? Has anybody ever heard of this. It's a homemade kit. Also my BOV vents into the atmosphere and i wanted to put a hose from it to the intake...but i noticed that on other people's clipses' the BOV is father away..mines really close and if i rotate the intercooler piping so the BOV is straight up then my hood wont close because the BOV sticks up too much...how do i fix that?

well i beleive that the pistons are cast and the block is cast also. that why they can take so much boost..

those got to be some pretty damn strong cast internals to be able to handle so much hp.

I want to say that the stock pistons are indeed cast, but quite beefy. Forged pistons are considered an upgrade. But I could be wrong. All produtcion car blocks are cast for cost reasons. To machine a block from a chunk of stock is time consuming, expensive, and wasteful. But you'll see it on some extreme motors, like the 4000 HP 4 banger.
The shifter bushing kit you refer to is called the Symborski kit after the guy that first had the parts machined. Its about 30-35 bucks. The only vendor off the top of myhead is www.machV.com, but you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere if they've jacked up the price (like they do on everything else).
What BOV and what UICP are you using? In many cases you have to get creative at the harware store (home depot, etc) to find some strong but flexible hose that will allow you to dump the BOV back in.

im using greddy UICP and a greddy type S BOV. I looked at it last night and it seems that the bottom part (part that connects to intercool)of the ICP is too long making it sit higher up in the engine bay... therefore i cant put my fuse box over it and my BOV is tilted forward. do you recommend buying the Symborski kit...has anyone used it..does it make a noticable dif....?
