Hey there, I bought an 99 eclipse GS to tool around in while I rebuild my MR2 turbo. I purchased my first automatic cause it was a good deal and thought I could live with it, well, I can't. How difficult is it to do 5 speed swap and what parts besides the tranny would I need to purchase?

Thanks for the help

T

go to www.DSMtrader.com a search for a tranny swap under parts... there is a guy that is selling a kit on there for like 250 or somthin, just saw it when i was messing around on the site. good luck

I did a manual conversion on just such a car, and let me tell you... It was a pain in the ass! :) I'll do 5 more 6 bolt conversion before I do another one of those. Its really not that hard, but everytime we went to work on it, we found another part that we needed and had to wait to get it in. So it was a couple months of working on it 20 minutes at a time :D If you do nothing else, do the best you possibly can to get a list of EVERYTHING you need, right down to the little stuff, and rewiring that needs to be done. Its not that bad I'm sure if you are fully prepared. Hopefully someone that has done this, maybe even the kid I helped, has made a good complete list of what is needed. You can find him on the 2gnt and AT boards, along with others that have done this I'm sure. He had a good bit of teh required info that he must have got somewhere.

Good luck with it. :)
