need ideas for engine mods on 98 venge

I just got a 98 avenger 4 cylinder 5 speed 16 valve duel overhead cam. The car is pretty fast as is, but I would like to increase horsepower and performance. Being new to this I am looking for advise on what products to use. I am not interested in cosmetics right now just engine mods. Please help
