Average cost automatic to manual? Are all years the same?

I may buy a S14 auto and convert to manual....more are available + lower mileage.

What's the average cost for the parts? I will get a new clutch and flywheel....

Also are all years the same as far as the tranny goes, and years better than another?

i think there was a post on this recently. i think everyone pretty much said around 1,500 or maybe that was just instalation. im to lazy to go look for myself. But if your buying brand new parts i dont know???

well if you have all the parts i dont see how can it be 2 times as much labor as a typical clutch swap since its almost the same. Drill holes for master cylinder, change flywheel, do some simple wiring, and sorta basicly it. It took me a long time because my parts were all different years n such.

I realize what I need and what I need to do...however what's a fair price for the parts at a salvage yard and do all transmissions for the 240SX interchange and was there any better years?

Im in the process of pulling a 5spd out of a 92 for my 95, so far everything looks like its the same, but I haven't really got to mine yet. I was lucky and ran into a salvage that only wants $100 for everything....and that isn't a typo. I'm doing all the labor myself, but I did call one place to get a price and they wanted $900 just in labor. If you search the forums here, you can find a list of what all parts you need and a general overview of the steps to swap everything. I would advise to go buy a new clutch kit and pilot bearing atleast. I got my clutch kit for a little over $100, and the pilot bearing wasn't even 5 bucks.

thanks, there just seems to be a whole bunch more automatics floating around at bargain basement prices for low mile cherries.

I do my own work so I got to thinking....I called some salvage yards and was told $100-$1000 for the parts list....so it's definitely doable for cheap.

I just need to know if OBDII is going to start throwing Check Engine Lights and BS stuff.

Found out there are a couple differences between the S13 and S14 chassis on the swap, but your still able to do it. And yes you will have your Check Engine light on, should throw 3 codes for the automatic computer, right now mine is throwing an extra one because I don't have the speed sensor wired in.

I started another thread, it lists some of the details some of the instructions leave out, and hopefully soon enough it will have the wiring in there also.
