LS VTEC conversion

I'm thinking of doing a converting the LS motor to a vtec one. I've got a few questions. Where could i find a cylinder head to use? I've been able to find kits that have everything but the head. Also, would the rev limit have to be raised? I know the ls motor redlines a 6500 RPM, but i thought in order for the vtec to be effective the engine had to rev up to around 7500 or even 8 grand. Also, how hard would it be to do this myself? I'm a pretty assertive do it yourselfer

Ok look around in the for sale forums on sites like these and you can usually find them. What has been the most indepth thing you have done to an engine?

a ls with a b16 head you can rev up to 10 rpm or higher, you have to make a oil hose to the head to the block

Ok newbie stop spreading wrong information! That is not possible at all!
NOBODY LISTEN TO THIS B.S
If you care to tell us why it is capable of 10K+ then I will retract my statment.

You could chip a car to redline at 15k RPMS if you wanted...does that mean the engine will handle it?

i did a little research, and i now know that to do the conversion i'm gonna have to rebuild the ls engine and put in stronger bearings, connecting rods, pistons, etc so i can handle higher rpm. I'd like it to be able to handle 8500 rpms, just to be safe. Could i use a b16a1 ecu and vtec controller to run this setup? Also, i've heard i need the vtec solenoid. does this come with the b16 vtec head? I'm a little confused

I did some more reading and found a lot of people saying that a LS/VTEC conversion is not very reliable. is this true or just a bunch of BS? Would i be better off with just swapping in a b16?

I would swap in a B18C or leave the LS in there and build it. I have a stock block LS that turns low 14's with N20 but even without the N20 I am in the 15.1 range. The B18B1 has more potential than people think, you just have to get a good tuner to tune it when you get doen building it. :2cents:

I think im gonna go with the LS VTEC conversion now, and just completely rebuild the LS block and but the b16a1 head on it. I found a conversion kit that adapts the head to the block. The only thing i am unsure of now is what ECU to use. I know i cant use the stock one in my integra since it doesnt support VTEC. Would i just use the one that was with the b16 engine? Also, how would i adapt this ecu to work with my conversion?

Use the ECU from the B16....

is the ls engine in the 90 to 93 integra also known as the b18a engine? Sorry, this is kinda off topic just curious
