2001 Ram overdrive problems

I have a 2001 Ram pickup and am having problems with the overdrive. When I am driving it automatically turns off and turns back on very quickly. Sometimes the transmission fluid temperature light comes on.
Any suggestions what it could be?

I have one too & didnt know that i have overdrive . It doesn't show up on the gear shift. Only had it 1 day.
