Small Block Fuel Injection Conversion

Greetings fellow enthusiasts. Hope this is the right place to post, so here goes.... I've recently purchased a 1972 Monte Carlo. Before delving too far into a running car, has anyone converted a stock carburated small block to fuel injection? I'm looking for two results: 1) Better fuel mileage (this will be a daily driver) and, 2) A clean and classy look that will cause interest when the hood is open. I'd call myself a mediocre level mechanic. I've rebuilt two small blocks and one Nissan four cylinder with success, but it's a hobby only. I can't really afford to get too carried away. I suppose the follow up question is whether there is a significant difference (other than cost) in coverting the stock 350, or a 427 I have in-progress. Thanks in advance for your help, and your patience with a newbie..... :) Bob
