Idle Problem

Alright, I got a question for all the gurus. I have a eagle talon tsi awd, Last night I was driving, nothing too fierce, and then something happened, no loud noises no big booms, just problems..... I pulled over immediately because it sounds like my engine is not firing one of the cylinders.
here's the symptoms, The idle goes from 200 to 500, during driving I can't get it to go past 2000 rpms (im also to afraid to try to), and when im done driving and i put it into neutral it dies. But it will restart no problem then idle from 200 to 500 again.
It was too late last night for me to check anything out, but I have to check my boost gauge to see if im getting vaccuum. I know also to check and my ignition system, and even maybe the dipstick popping out.
If you guys have any ideas pleas do me a favor and let me know what you'll think, any other things i could check out, thanx......

Also does anyone know how to make a leak tester, I check the faq site, but i still cant find it, thanx again.......

Sounds to me like you blew an IC pipe. Doing a boost leak test is a good call. Its in the vfaq section under the INTAKE heading. Since I'm in a generous mood, I'll save you a couple seconds:

Be sure to post the results. :)

WAHOO.......I checked under the hood yesterday after work, my upper intercooler piping came loose, obviously loose, hell it came off.... I just couldn't see it the other night cuz it was too dark.... Someone do me a favor and mark me up as a lucky bas$%rd.......thanx for the info on the leak tester though........

look into upgrading you UICP's to some with a lip on the ends to prevent this from happening. GReddy makes them like that, that's what i got [although there are cheaper alternatives like dejon tools]

Good to see. Got to love the easy fixes. Everything you described sounded like an IC pipe blown off. Hopefully everyone is paying attention to the symptoms, since this is going to happen to all of us at some point. I lost count already for my car. I keep the tools for the clamps in my hatch. ;)
