I don't know if anyone has seen the transparent engine bonnet for the Gallardo yet, I haven't. This picture courtesy of Automobili Lamborghini.
I was wondering about a transparent engine bonnet for the Murcielago. I thought for sure that the salesman said something about that when I talked to him a couple of months ago. After seeing it on the Gallardo, I think that it would look incredible on the Murcielago.

Thanks for the picture, i'm just wondering if there is the possibility of overheating in the engine bay area with appearantly less ventilation as compared to the slots on the regular cover.

If anyone modifies their Gallardo with the glass bonnet, please remember to make a post regarding this issue.

Thanks

Thanks for the image, I see the car in the brochure has the glass bonnet as well. Love to find out where to get one from.

Not too sure about the heat from the glass but I currently own a Ferrari 360 and as you know it has a glass cover. I am buying a Gallardo this weekend and I really think this is a very nice feature. Where can I get one from? Lambo tell me it is a factory option but can't tell me if they spray it at factory or they come primed, either way if there is an after market company who is doing them I'd like to hear from them. Any information is appreciated.

Coast Boy, you'll have to post pics for us when you get your Gallardo and especially if you get a glass engine cover for it!

Looks really cool. In regards to the Murcielago clear engine bonnet, I heard that some rapper or basketball player or something has one on his. Never have seen a picture of it though.

too bad they never made an engine cover like that for the diablo, especially the 6.0 ... my favorite :(

As for overheating the engine bay, if it is offered by the company then probably not. It also depends on what type of cooling the engine uses (I'm not sure so I can't definitely say).

But I suppose that if overheating is a problem, you could just line the engine bay with gold like the F1...

thanks, the site is just a hobby of mine... it's a long way from being finished. i work on it as i have time.

i took the footage of the black and silver gallardo from mtv cribs... just spliced out everything but the cars. i really like the black too. of course black is pretty much my favorite on any car :naughty:

Yeah, when I first fell in love with the 996 TT I thought yellow would be a sweet color. Then I looked at it some more and thought, hey, maybe black would look even better. Then I saw the gallardo and liked it in yellow, mainly because that's the only color you seem to see in the first set of photos shoots. then I looked at it some mor and decided, hey, maybe black would look even better. So yeah, black rules.

Also, piece of advice, the music on the other vids was pretty weird. I'd just as soon not have any music.

This is the first factory delivered Gallardo that I've seen with the glass bonnet. Picture taken from Platinum's Orange County Garage.

I agree the glass cover looks nice, but I wouldn't do an aftermarket fix. The louvres are quite nice anyhow, and the engine bay needs more color to make the engine stand out more.

I was showing my 2 young nephews the engine in mine the other day out on the street - it attracted a crowd of 30 people before I could get the hood down again. You make a lot of new acquaintances with this car!

I got color coded intake manifolds for my lambo from www.lamboparts.com that really spiced up my engine and made the whole car stand out even more ( if thats possible )

I finally saw the real one yesterday... I hate the black covered part of the glass to protect motors for the rear spoiler.

I got a clear lexan engine bonnet for my Murcielago from the guys at www.LamboParts.com. Everyone freaks over it and Murcielago owners all want to know where I got it from. They also powdercoated my intake manifolds to match the color of my car. Any way, they might be able to get you a clear Gallardo engine bonnet. Try them and I highly recomend the upgrade.

Very nice. A Murci bonnet is much different than a Gallardo bonnet or any Ferrari bonnet... as it's not flat. Can you post some pics for us?
