i am looking into buying a honda to play around with , first let me say i have not done anything to a honda other then basic shop work , like timming belts , swap engines , trans and such nothing to do with performance , i was thinking about a civic mid 90's non-hatchback , i heard alot about the civic SI , from what i have read i need to look for a DOHC Vtech car , i don't want to put turbo/super charger on it or run nitrous , basically i want to do intake/exhaust , ignition. and othe mods to it , so what should a be on the look out for? only types of vehicles i have ever done anything major to has been GM's unless you count the rx7 that i put a chevy v8 in , thanks for any help you can give to me

i'd say do some research on your basic b-series engines, like the b16a, b16b, b17a, b18a, b18b, b18c, b18c5, b20, and so on. also, maybe even the h-series, like the h22. do some research on those, then choose which engine best suits what your looking for, and then swap it into a late model civic. like a 93 civic hatch, or a crx. something like that. i think a person that has done stuff like you have could easily do this project in a weekend. hope that helps. as any more questions if you need more help.
