Any of you guys running premix in your RX-8's??

I was just wondering. I do and swear by it. I just turned my dad on to it and he has a 93 RX-7 with Mazda Remanufactured engine and new turbos. He is using Amsoil synthetic premix (yes it burns and there is no buildup its made to burn) he mixes 4 oz. per tankful because he still uses his oil metering pump.

I have disabled my oil metering pump ans race my RX-7 a lot so I am running 8 oz. per tankful. I am using Pettit Racings Protek-R.

If any of you have no idea what I am talking about here is an explanation. **Its pretty long, sorry!!!**

Your engines pump oil into the rotor housings on purpose to help lubricate the apex seals. The Renesis engine actually has 2 oil injectors per housing as the older engines have only one. The principle is simple: the harder you drive it the more oil is pumped.

Now it was suggested to me a while ago to add premix to my gas. I said it was total BS there was no way it made a difference. Mazda built in the Oil Metering Pump (OMP) and engineered it to work well. I necer bothered adding it mainly because I felt it was too much work to do at each fillup.

Then I took a tour of Pettit racings facility. I met Kandy the engine builder. She was handing me a complimentary bottle of Protk-R and I told her I thought premixing was BS. She pulled 2 rotor housings off the shelf. The first only used a OMP. It had a noce shiney line about 1/3 the way around the middle of the housing starting at the weep hole from the oil injector.

Then she pulled another housing it was nice and shiney all the way across. It was clear it had less wear. I decided to premix from that point on. I used Amsoil at fist then bought 3 gallons of Pettits stuff.

Well my boost controler malfunctioned in a race at Sebring I boosted 30+PSI on a car tuned for 15 PSI. The spikes were sustained and there were at least 3 of them for about 5 seconds each. (Damn! The car felt like a monster at 30+PSI!!) Here is the wild part. I drove and raced that car in SoloII competitions for 6 more months. Then the idle started to lope so I decided to take it to Pettit and have it street ported and rebuilt.

When they tore the engine down (premixing for 1 year) they were amazed that there was a blatant lack of wear on any of the internal parts. I cracked an Apex seal and it scored a housing so we had to replace it.

I am sold on premixing and think you guys should look into it too.
I hav eno vested interest telling you about this just a love for all things rotary and thought I would share my experiance with you.

If you want to read more about it here is a link to Pettits site just click on the Protek-R link to the lower left.
