i have a 99 taurus and first noticed the definative sound of low power steering fluid 2 months ago.
since then, i have been adding the fluid almost on a daily basis. i brought the car in to be serviced and as i mentioned to the dealer, there was no sign of leakage. they agreed that there was no leak, but it was possible that there was air in the lines.
the dealer had the power steering rack replaced in december 2003 and now it is nearly impossible to turn the wheel at all.
i have searched on this site for power steering issues that do not involve a leak, but did not find any resolution.
is there a specific part that may need to be replaced at 60K ??
i am bringing in the car tomorrow, but would like to have an idea of what the problem is, since it seems to be re-occurring. thanks !

What does low power steering sound like?? I have checked mine but I have a squeek/clicking when i turn my wheel only to the right. Plus the sound is coming from the passenger side of the car. 2000 Taurus SE.
