Preventative maintenance

We have a 98 Civic EX and have only performed basic mx: Oil/filter changes, tires, brakes, etc. My question: At 6 years and 75,000 mi old, what sort of preventative mx should we consider? Timing belt? Drive belt? Water pump? The car has no current problems that we know of but we'd like to prevent any. Thanks!

75k is a good mileage to replace the timing belt. Since all the other belts have to come off to replace the timing belt, might as well replace those too. Save you some labor money down the road.

while you got the timming belt out, inspect your water pump or replace it anyway. remember use only OEM honda stuff even though its more money - its better then aftermarket

75K is early for T/belt but early is better than too late. Replace the water pump with timing belt, it's just stupid not to especially if your paying for labor.

75K maint service:
Oil/filter change
Trans fluid every 30K
Coolant changed 45K then every 30K after(75K due)
Tire rotation
Brake inspection/service
Valve adjustment
30K - 60K - 90K - 120K -etc. are the important services. Any Honda dealer should be able to provide you with a maintenance list.

Welcome to AF, it's nice to see someone who is interested in preventative maintenance versus breakdown maintenance for a change (I have seen a lot of the latter around here as of late). I won't cover anything about preventative maintenance, jackasssi covered 75K maintenance well. As you can see, jackasssi is knowledgable when it comes to maintenance related questions.
