A/T - Ratcheting Sound When Coming To Stop

Like the title says, my '95 Grand Caravan 3.3L V6 Automatic Trans makes this weird ratcheting sound when stopping. It also happens when I put it in Gear wether or not the vehicle is moving or when it's switching from Drive to Reverse.
Is this a sign of trouble? Can anyone help me?

No sign of trouble at all - this is the solenoid valves modulating fluid pressure and this it what shifts the transaxle. Perfectly normal :)

Glad to hear that! Thanks for the reply...
Is this a common noise on Caravans? I ask because I've never heard a car make that kind of noise before. I've been listening closely to every Caravan I run across on the street and there's like 8-10 where I work and none of them make this noise under the same conditions.

That's probably because none of them have the four speed. Also if yours is really loud, check that the rubber sound insulator is securely in place on the solenoid body - it's on the front of the trans right behind the rad fan - there is a large wiring plug going right to it.

I've got a 96 with the 4 speed tranny. Has made the same noise since I bought it in 95. I'ts normal. Just one of a dozen noises these $30,000 pieces of junk produce!

I have a '99 Caravan with the 3.8 liter V6 and it has been making this sound since it was new. I have noticed other vans like mine making the same noise as well.

I hear lots of them making that noise around here-Chrysler says this is normal-the cars do it too.

the noise is normal but the atf coming out of them isnt. maybe its just my work, but just about all atf leaks from caravans seem to come from the soleniod pack lol
