Speed regulator

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about a speed regulator / governor on Malibu's.

My 2000 LS Malibu will not go above 170km/h (105mph) even though the engine wants too. (The engine will purposely disengage / gear down when you hit that speed)

I have no intentions of driving at that insane speed on any given ride but I was testing it out on an open stretch of highway the other day.

Yes, the malibu (at least in V6 form, I'm not sure about the 2.5 I-4) is governed at 105mph. If you are drag racing it and are hitting the 105mph governor during the 1/4 mi (which means you already have some serious mods) then you can have a shop remove the limitation, however it will probably require a custom chip. If you are on the highway hitting 105mph, I suggest leaving the governor alone and upgrading your brakes.

you can get a chip on ebay to remove that for about 25 dollars if you really want to
