I have a 2000 grand am se with the 2.4L. Is it possible to turbo or supercharge it with the engine being completely stock? A buddy of mine told me that if I do one or the other, I'll throw a rod. Will this happen? Also, is it possible to drop a v6 from a gt into my car? I've noticed that the v6 has much more options stock than the 4cyl does. I've been told that I'll have to replace the tranny if I want to do this.

You can run the GM supercharger that the Jbody owners run on their car. Its built buy GM and ment to run on stock internals, and it keeps you warrenty.

I would stick with the 2.4 instead of the V6 put a supercharger on it and you will beat almost any v6's.
About it keeping the warranty though, you might have to have the dealership install it though

Sounds good....(showing my newbieness :)) I'm guessing that the 2.4L thats in the sunfire and the cavalier is the same as the one in the grand am? Something else I just noticed. It says that its for manual tranny...will it work with the auto?

I dont know. I would think it would work with an atuomatic.

Yeah I would think it would, unless The tranny interfears with the mounting , because of its size? I am not sure though

The 2.4's weigh less than the V6's, and there isn't that much of an HP difference, so the only real difference is the body styling...which the SE's look sleeker, anyway. Different engine type, I know, but the WRX STI is a 2.5 turbo @ 300 HP. I could only imagine the 2.4 with a huge turbo!!!

Go to www.rsmracing.com if you want a supercharger, you buy it from them and they put it on for no additional cost! And there is a difference in the cavalier/sunfire and grand am exhaust manifold, the cavalier/sunfire comes straight down off of the block to the downpipe, the ga comes straight out the back of the engine. I don't know why they did this, but makes it tough to find headers for the car!
