I apologize in advance for the length of this. I'm about to go insane.

I have an 86' integra/automatic with 150k. Bought it with 123k 1.5 years ago and it's been a stellar daily driver since. Timing belt replaced just prior to my purchase. Late last fall the engine would out of the blue sputter and then resume running fine. It would do this while driving down the road, accelerating, backing up, whatever. Just a slight stumble here and there. Almost as if momentarily it just stopped firing on all 4 cylinders. I suspected fuel delivery probs first. I knew the pump was running and so I pulled the fuel filter. What came out looked like baby shit so I replaced it. It ran ok (with an occasional stutter) and
so I did the igniter check according to the Chilton. Continuity in one direction only and tons of resistance to the igniter ground. So I said the hell with it and a couple tankfuls of gas later it was running damn near perfect. i figured bad gas. Last week it started doing it again and then one day I'm driving down the road and I'm trying to accelerate and the whole thing just starts losing altitude. As if no matter how much gas I give it, it's going to eventually die, which it did. I'd crank it and it would act like it wanted to start but wouldn't. If it did, it soiunded like it was running on 1 cylinder and would croak after about 1-2 seconds.

I towed it back to my house and checked the fuel pump. Pump runs for a couple secs just like it's supposed to. Now, when I crank it it doesn't even try to start. I pull the fuel filter out. It's crystal clean. I blow thgrough it. No prob. Put the pre-filter hose side into a gallon jug and turn the key. Tons of fuel pouring out. Pull the plugs and they're soaked in gas. Check for spark and it's very intermittent. One strong spark for every 2 secs of cranking filled intermittiently with tiny little shitty sparks. I pull the igniter and do the same test I did a month ago and this time it fails. No continuity at all. I replace the $94 part and the car won't start. It sputters like it wants to and comes real close to starting but won't. Pull the plug and watch the spark. Now it's very strong and consistent on all plugs. Forgot to mention when this whole thing began I replaced the cap, wires and rotor. I've taken every measurement the worthless chilton book says to do and they all seem to be within spec. Injector resistance, injector resistor, crank angle sensor, igntion coil. I don't think it's the main relay cuz when you crank it and it's coming close to starting, when it dies the pump continues running for a sec then stops. The ECU had a trouble code of one which I guess is a faulty O2 sensor? So that would explain the ultra-high cold idle it always had? Didn't see how that would be related. I cleared the ECU and there are no codes at all. I can't imagine this is a major component failure cuz the car ran perfect just moments before. Compressin is fine also. There's no EGR valve to check according to the manual. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatly appreciative. I'm having a hell of a time finding resources on the web. I don't want to just start buying $70-100 parts when I don't even know what's wrong. Thanks so much.
