I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan SE with about 60k miles on it. I bough it as a Lemon Law buyback but it has not given me any problems until 6 months ago. We have brought it in three times for white smoke the appears when we come to a stop. We brought it in the first time and they said the battery exploded. But I have my doubts because the vehicle still started after we pulled off the road when we detected smoke.

The problem seemed to go away for awhile but then about a month ago the same problem happened - white smoked appeared after driving on the freeway and stopping at the stop light.

Just today, it happened again. I noticed some fluid that around the transmission dipstick area and i thought maybe some fluid overflowed and leaked onto the engine which created the smoke...but I have no idea..I do not know much about cars at all.

Please help...anyone have any ideas???

You have a problem that can be solved only by looking at location of the smoke. Looks like you have a leak around the engine area and if it leaks on to the exhaust, it will smoke. Those vehicles are common for leaks from the valve covers, camshaft seals and the tranny solenoid pack. Get a friend or a garage to identify the leak and go from there.
Good Luck.

If the white smoke is coming out of the tail pipe it is moisture in the combustion chamber and is likely a head gasket or intake manifold gasket. Check your coolant level. If it is in the engine compartment it could be antifreeze dripping on the exaust.
