how do you guys use styrene to make a wide body kit can i gets some pics that demonstrate how it do this? also what size styrene do you use and how much putty do you use? How much putty should i expect to use in one kit if i plan on makeing it a wide body, and how much styrene too?

well i hope this helps...

I usually don't use too much putty, i got squadron putty and i've had it for quite a while, at least a year or two and its a small little tube. Well I'm gonna use my supra for the example. (you can find the progress thread called "my supra"). I usually make a styrene "skeleton" first. This usually consists ofr a way to shape the putty up to and around.

Part A is the outside of the front fender, you can place this as far out as you like using part B.

Part B is the inner fender piece, you glue this to already existing fender arch, with the wide side pointing skyward, so you have a sor of "edge" or "table" to add putty to.

Part C is the back pieces of the kit, this is if you want a back to the widebody parts rather than have the kit flow back into the bodywork.

I then fill in putty as needed and sand then add more putty and repeat the sand and putty process as needed. I hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask and I'll try to help.

Does part B connect to the inside of the car and you can slide it outwards or inwards to what width you like? can i have a better picture of where part B is? sorry for the hassel and thanks for the help. I am planning on doing a wide body supra but i want the supra to have its wide body flow into the doors like the ab flug supra (s9500) http://store5.yimg.com/I/supra_1772_11670220 any buody know where i can get more detailed pics of the s9500 supra???

ok heres a better idea i think:

first off, if you start with the sard supra you won't need part B
but if you need to use it, this is how it goes in, the blue is part B, the red is the original lines of the car

again with the sard supra you just shave down the existing fender flares a little bit, or for the back none at all like i did. If you just want wider flares that are molded into the fender, you don't need any of this just add putty between the fender flares and fender (again with the sard supra)

i hope this helps again feel free to ask if you need further explanation, or i can just tell you how i would do the kit.

well i have never used tamiya putty, but i'd think one package should do, i like squadron though because theres no mixing and it goes on easy. Good luck with the project, and if you need any more help let me know!

Now how wide? Well thats pretty much up to you, if you are buying the sard kit, just go as wide as the supplied fender flares, if you are using the stock supra kit... i'd say about .25inches
