Has anybody ever heard of somebody putting a Big Block in an S-10? I am! I have done a v6 to small block swap (S-10, Isuzu Amigo) and a small block to Big Block. So i thought why not put a BB in my S-10. it is an 89 4wd 4inch suspension lift with 4 inch body lift, Smittybuilt brushguard with matching rear bumper and roll bar american racing Nascar wheels with 35x12.50s, nerf bars and grab bars. 4 rectangle lights in brushguard and 4 4" kc's on roll bar. i cut 2" off the fenders with a plasma cutter and covered up with 3" rubber fender flares. the 305 is old, tired and too sluggish. i have a stock 79 454 with 5 speed i just pulled that runs strong. im gonna put on some cheap chrome valve covers with an edelbrock performer rpm intake and holley 850 dp. i want to cut a hole in the hood so my filter sticks out.
I have everything i need (except suspension stuff on the way) and have the 305 out and this weekend im gonna use my friends plastic Big block model to mock up the motor mounts. So what do you guys think?
i hope ot have it done by the end of the summer. once i get things sittin in i will start posting pics. i pilled off the entire front clip for ease of engine removal/installation.

I think you will have a good fun truck. Clearance will be the challenge - the V6, which is the same width as a SB V8 comes very close to the steering column/shaft, so it will probably have to move to get the BB in. It sounds like you are converting to rear wheel drive. That is good because I would not expect the transfer case and front drive axle to take that kind of abuse. I also would suggest you change the rear end to something more robust.

You may need to buy that corvette rad.
It's super small but does a good job at cooling for it's size.
