On the 1998-2004 (except Direct inject engines) the transmission is a sealed unit and doesn't have a dipstick. To check it the truck should be warmed up but not excessively hot. With the e-brake on an the wheels block, start the engine, place your shifter in neutral, remove the upper fill plug on the transmission and the fluid should just dribble out.

FWIW, I would write it this way-

On the 1998-2004 (except Direct injection engines) the transmission is a sealed unit and doesn't have a dipstick. To check it the truck should be warmed up but not excessively hot. With the parking brake engaged and the wheels blocked, start the engine then shift into neutral.
Remove the upper fill plug on the transmission and the fluid should barely dribble out.

I add a couple of new sections. I will also write up a how to on flushing the power steerig pump (well, at least replacing some of the fluid). And I will include a section on Sea Foam and how folks have been using it.

Can anyone think of some other common problems that people are having (links for examples) that I should add?

One thing I would like is a how to on changing the headlight bulbs (my time is coming soon). I have tried to remove them before but it was a no go........

I was just wondering that maybe you should stick to what Seafoam recommends, or at least put a warning that you do not reccommend or endorse any usage of the product that is contrary to Seafoams instructions. Mind you you should maybe put a disclaimer for your whole site.
Case in point I removed my range sensor using your websites instructions. I had a hard time undoing the nut. I put penetrating oil and got it off the next day. But my shifter would not shift into low or low2. This happened immediately upon trying to undo the range sensor linkage nut. I think instruction should be given to undo the shift linkage before undoing the nut.
Now this is no big deal, but when dealing with putting additives I would think it would be best to either stay clear of unrecommended practices or place a disclaimer on your site. I don't think anybody would or could take legal action against you, but a disclaimer would make the reader think twice before trying something radical

Soon as I fix my shifter problems I am going to post a complete how to article with pictures on removing and cleaning the transmission range sensor.

Likewise I don't have enough experience of my own on my own truck because there never has been a good write up on specifically the 95.5-97yrs; so obviously I'm not going to create a write up. However, there have been hundreds of owners from those particular years that could write a 300 page book, I'm sure

Guys! IS it easy to remove and install the oil pressure sending unit?? It IS the part located near the oil filter isnt it?? I called NAPA today and they gave me TWO types....the LIGHT one (4 bux) and expensive one (90 bux) which one is the one do I need to swap out?? I know this is a familiar issue with the 1st Gen Rodeos, I'm surprised they never had a recall on this! Sorry to partial hijacking the thread, but I just need to clarify this.... :naughty:

Actually per the bottle and website; they state add a half bottle every 3k. But when right? Some have email them that exact question; when? After an oil change? Before you change? Their response, in typical political fashion, add it every 3k for best results. That is why I want to post info on the site to use at your own risk.

The FAQ I created is about 95% Copy and Paste from other peoples posts. I have been reading Isuzu forums for about 6 years now. When I started to see there were a lot of the same problems I started to bookmark them. Last Feb (2004), on a snowy day while sitting on my couch I spent 8 hours, pulling it all together. No need to be mechanically inclined.

As for the sensor, I would suggest purchasing a Rodeo Fix it manual for about 20 bucks (it will be worth it!)

I'm going to make a couple of changes tonight. The links at the begining of the page, right now point to opening up a fresh page everytime (which is eating up the bandwidth) instead of taking you down the page. I'll give that a try and see how it works.

Amigo2k, just wanted to say that FAQ page you have is awesome. Thanks for all the work you did and do on it. It has steered me in the correct direction many times.

They might. I have been contacted by several members here who have offered up some ftp web space. I would prefer ftp access, so I can change things on the fly. It is a living document if you will.

I changed around some stuff on the page in a hopes to keep the band width useage down.

If I end up on an ftp site, I will for sure, have an address registered for it. Something like www.zuzufaqs.com. I will probably open up a post for suggestions on the site.

We will see in the upcoming weeks.

And as always if people have any suggestions let me know.

And if all goes well I 'll probably start a 91-97 Rodeo FAQ page too!

There should be drain plug in the bottom, same with the rear. I changed mine a couple weeks ago, only took a few minutes to do both. Good luck.
