I like being the first to post in new forums, so I'm doing it again, with a simple question: What do you do to stay fit?
I moved my refirdgerator into the attic, and my TV into the basement, so when I want to get a cold drink I have to walk much farther. Just kidding.
But seriously, in the summer I do ride my bike alot, especially when I'm too cheap to buy gas for my car.

I try to work out 3-4 times a week when I have the energy after work. Also try to run 2 miles a day. Switched from coffee to green tea in the morning. And basically just try to avoid eating worthless food. Although the 20 beers I drink on the weekend don't really help. :uhoh:

Hmm.. an interesting forum concept, it will probably get the least replies however.
I'm only 16, so diets and nutrition doesn't apply much to me.. yet. But I eat pretty well. Every once in a while I'll have a candy bar between 7th and 8th hour, a little snack. Also, I drink a mountain dew or orange soda for dinner every night :nono:
I walk home from school every day, except when its raining or snowing, thats when I catch a ride. It takes me about 15 minutes to walk home, a nice little cardio to get the blood flowing. When there isn't 4 inches of snow on the ground, I like to bike, to get some more cardio in. If its too cold, I usually run on the indoor track at the local community center, but I loathe running.

I try to get to the gym most days. It helps that I’ve got a new job where there’s a gym in the building so I can go in my lunchbreaks. I find it much easier to get there having it on site.

Well, I usually lift weights and such, but after doing some investigation in to a pain in my shoulder that wont go away, it appears I have a torn rotator cuff. Time to go to the doc and see whether I need teh surgery, which means no more weights for Jon.

I get some of my cardio chasing around my 22 month old son, also a weight workout of sorts, considering he weighs 36 lbs.
For the rest of my cardio, I try to get in at least half an hour each day. When I'm home, I have a so-so eliptical trainer/recumbent bike that does the job, or if it's nice enough out, I run around the neighborhood.
For weight training, the hotel I work at has a nice fitness center, equipped with Cybex machines, a Smith machine, dumbells, and tons of cardio equipment. I'm usually there at least three times a week. Some weeks I'll split my training by bodypart, and once in a while I go for a total body "punishment."

I am 7'1" at 436 pounds. I worked out at one time 7 days aweek 4-6 hours a day (wrestling, power lifter). My trainer told me to cut back so my muscles could heal between workouts. Now I am down to 4 days a week weight training and 5 days a week Cardio. I run 10 miles on the cardio days, plus 1 hour in the Aerobic rooms. then off to the massage table.I have been training for 19 years and now I have to cut back. Most ladies find that I am over built so I have to cut back and find miss right. why is that the women I meet think that a person that works out, is a knuckle head? I have a college education and a very good entertainment job.

I have the same problem. Yes, I said problem. I'm only 135 lbs. and am a whopping 5'8". I have been wanting to gain weight for a while now, but I can't. I'd basically have to consume an insane amount of protein and such and then work out 5 times a to see some results. I don't ave the time for that. I need to get back to the gym though. A couple weeks ago I took a nasty fall playing basketball and was in pain the following week, then the next week snow and ice took over my state. So getting to the gym was very difficult.

dont kid yourself about the whole "I dont have time!" issue. when i first moved out (i am 21 now) from my parents house i was working 53 hours a week while going to school full time. i still worked out! once you get the desire, there isnt a darn thing that will get in your way. so dont kid yourself about "i dont have time".
-i am 5'6" 153lbs and i have gained 20lbs since i started working 1 job instead of 2.
-reasons for gaining weight: i was actually sleeping. i started to consume 200-250grams of protein daily. i am also on creatine (but i cycle).
-get a partner to go to the gym with you, and lift until you cant do it anymore...then try to do it one more time!
have fun, hope i can help.

well, i eat 3 protein bars daily. watch out for the contents in the bar, some have wayyy too much sugar. try to stay around 6-8grams of sugar. the bars i eat range from 13-16 grams of protein. almost a dollar a bar.
i also drink 3 protein shakes a day (GNC 100% Whey) do not buy Mega Whey! you would be paying for glutamine-which you can buy cheaper, seperately. i use this also, but only after a workout day. the 100% whey has 20grams of protein per scoop, and the milk i use has 9 grams per 8 ounces.
i put a scoop and a half of protein and put that in 12 ounces of milk. this would mean that i consumed 43 grams of protein per shake i drink. and i have 3 a day! yes this is expensive, there are alternatives.
eat hotdogs. they are cheap and plentiful. eat like 6 a day (especially when you are not hungry) there are smart ways to gain weight, and there are stupid ways. my uncle who is 6'4" 160lbs or so used to eat crisco oil! he was desperate when he was younger.
the best tip i can give a guy that is trying to gain weight: eat tuna. i still have these occasionally, i used to have a can a day. i believe that is 37 grams of protein and only 1.5 grams of fat. lets see, what about eggs? just eat the egg white if you can...the yolks contain the fat.
-oh yeah i study this kinda stuff for fun. i had the desire to be a nutritionist quite a while ago. i now am studying genetics, anatomy, and biochemistry.

There's always time for a workout. I sometimes have difficulty getting one in, especially having a kid. So for the times I can't get to the gym, I have a pair of dumbell handles, an EZ curl bar, an inexpensive bench, and a lot of weight plates.
As gaining weight, if you're not too concerned about gaining fat, then just eat. Try the see-food diet, as in you see food, you eat it. Tuna, as kittedb18b1 said, is a great source of quality protein. And at less than $1 a can, it's pretty cheap too. And shakes are also good for gaining. Try blending the shake with fruit to make it taste better. One powder I've found to taste good by itself is Muscle Milk by Cytosport.
Carbs are important too. Low carb diets are good for losing weight, not gaining. Plenty of carbs will ensure that your muscles are getting the protein you're eating, and it's not getting used for energy.
If all else fails, you could always try other supplements, such as prohormones. I'm gonna try MAG-10 soon, I've heard some good things about it. A bit pricey, but if it actually does what it says, then I'll be very happy. Also, Myo-Blast is another good one. It's supposed to neutralize myostatin protein cells, which inhibits muscle growth. Also, an added side effect from Myo-Blast is that you're hungry all the time. That will help big time when you're trying to stuff a lot of food down your throat.

i know this article is old, but i am not going to try something like that until it has been out on the market for a few more years. plus i am not really into these 'super-duper' supplements. the only one i am interested in besides the creatine and protein is steroids. yes real steroids. i have tried those prohormones to aid your body in testosterone production, but they have not helped me. plus they are WAY expensive.

One thing I want to point out is that your body can only break down about 30 grams of protein at a time, so the rest of it becomes part of you, or more mass.
kitted, do you find that milk and protein shakes become very think and clumpy and somewhat uneasy on the stomach? For starters I have a very balanced diet. I take the best vitamins and mineral supplements like shark liver oil, germanium, calcium, and a few others. I try to avoid soda, pork, and mono-sodium glutamates. I also cut back on the processed foods and foods high in sodium. I need to start doing some cardio and build my upper body some since I lost a lot of weight a while back and mostly from the upper body including muscle mass.

i am also on creatine-make sure you take it an hour before your workout and take about 30 grams of carbs with it for better absorbtion.
-multivitamins are the most important supplement you can buy. buy them from a health store.
-protein always upsets my stomach. natural sources of protein is more important, and better for you.
-i also take glutamine (5grams) only after a workout day though. i am not on any prohormone supplements at this time, although i have experimented with them. i did not see any results.

I absolutely hate protein bars. I tried eating them, but it was just too awful. I can down protein shakes, but I hate those too, so I only do it if I'm desparate. As for your tuna advice, that's what I normally eat. I eat those starkist tuna pouches, which are 3.5 oz., and contain 49g of protein total. I'm not sure of the fat content though, so I'll hafta check. So I just eat that after a hard workout. The good news is, I just had a physical today for tennis tryouts, and I'm now at 140 lbs., as opposed to 135. I'll just do some research on it and read through all 60+ men's health magazines that I have stacked away somewhere to get some ideas.

Yeah like Detour, One Way or U-turn bars. They are made with Designer Whey protein. Actually taste pretty good too. Besides the bars and shakes, I like to eat beans and chicken for other sources of protein while weight training.

Meso-Tech bars all the way, especially the chocolate peanut butter ones. Tastes so good, I almost forget it's a protein bar.
As for prohormones, I've tried some of the Muscletech prohormones, and noticed some results, although not as good as expected. I would try some real steroids, but after a buddy of mine took some, his man-gina shrank, and his woman nearly left him for it, kinda turned me off to them.
The Myo-Blast is good shit. I bought it online, and got a really good deal on it, as opposed to getting it at GNC. Saved myself some serious ca$h.

That's what I was thinking when read his post about protein
In response to the prohormones, don't take them if you are still in your teen years. They can have negative effects on someone who is still at a developmental age. A prohormone that I've seen yeild major results is 1Lab, but I don't really recommend prohormones to anyone.
A good workout routine is a major factor. If you are bulking then try to keep the reps low and the impact high (weight). Try to work each body group only one time a week, to give proper time for muscle regen. and to avoid overtraining. A routine that I've seen many people recommend is on each group do 5 sets of 5 reps. Find a weight that you can do at this rate, but make sure the weight is challenging. Once that weight becomes comfortable then bump it up a couple of pounds.
Use dumbells instead of bar bells, because it works more muscles.
Just a couple of pointers.

2---chest & back
3--biceps and triceps
and im on the cycle every day so that takes care of legs. This routine works out great for me cuz i give each body part time to rest before i work it again. Doing the same routine everyday=worthless. I also try to alternate exercises but there is only so much you can do. This site has some good exercises:

Lift 5 days per week at home. I have built a pretty good gym at home over the years. I have around 2,000 lbs of free weight. a couple of purchased machines along with a treadmill. I also had a few things custom built like a legpress machine, a rack I designed that is extremely strong and very versatile and a few specialized benches.
