Ya thats the very first one I ever did , I'm not to good at drawing people (thats me in my avatar ) lol any advise out there on how to draw caractures ? My other two kids want me to draw them as well and so does my wife, I'm just not to good at it yet.But I would like to learn.

I work as a caricature artist in both Busch Gardens Tampa and Busch Gardens Williamsburg and for a the first try, it looks good. Without a reference pic, its hard to tell about likeness. Your features are placed well. The bottom lip looks a little off, but again with no reference pic its hard to know whats going on. Two things I'd be creful of is getting a "football" look to the eyes. That's common problem people have when starting out. Also I'd move the highlight so that it's taking up some space in both the pupil and the iris. Also, for a younger person a little larger hightlight looks good. I'd also watch the lines under his eyes. The more lines in a face the older it will look. If you want to put those lines in, then you should have the line curving over instead of under. It gives the appearence of a balled up cheek from a smile instead of a bag under the eye from an all night drinking binge. Thats the way my trainer said it to me. Also, watch the smile lines for the same reason of aging a sketch. If you have a pic of your son on the computer I'd be willing to take a stab at drawing him to illustrate my points. I would recommend some books you could check out, but they dont really exist. The few books that are out there, more illustrate artists work and don't teach much. I'd be happy to answer any questions you got though. I'm a decent caricature artist, and I know some of the best in the business, so I can find an answer even if I dont know it.
