check engine light

sorry to sound newb but I ntoiced my 97 gt check engine light will come on if I drive the car like a bat out of hell. once i return to normal speeds it will go off. i know it sounds silly but is a sensor faulty somewhere or is it an emissions thing?

Do you have a k&n filter on the car?

do you have aftermarket headers or an off-road h-pipe?

i dont know what a k&n filter is. there doesnt appear to be any aftermarket things on the car. its all orgininal from my observation. i got the car used and it looks all ford.

The K&N filter is purple thats the easiest way to tell

well the only other way to tell is to take it to a shop with a dtc scanner and tell them when it goes on so they can recreate it if need be. probably just a bad sensor.

Take it to a shop where they can download the computer's error codes. Or you can buy your own On Board Diagnostic Reader (OBD ) for under $200 and you can use it forever.
